Dear Pre-K Families,

Welcome to Uniondale’s Pre-Kindergarten Program!  We are very excited to begin the year.  A few important things to know before we start:

** Date Change** All parents/guardians and students are invited to attend the Back-To-School Orientation on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 6 -7 pm.  During Orientation you will have the opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and the principal of the school, learn about the Pre-K Program, bring in donation supplies and sign up for Pre-K Screening dates.

Pre-K Screening will be conducted on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, September 6th, 7th & 8th.  All children attending the program will be screened by their teacher in the afternoon, from 12 – 2:30pm.  You will be asked to sign-up for a 20 minute time period for the screening.  During this time parents will be asked to fill out important contact information and screening forms for your child.  There will be a translator available for families during these events.

The First Week’s Schedule:

• Tuesday, September 5th – Friday, September 8th are half-days.  School will dismiss at 11:00 am.
• Only breakfast will be served.
• During the first week of school, we will be following the following schedule of events:

• Your child’s teacher will contact you to sign up for the Pre-K Screening
• Monday, September 11th – first full day of school.  Dismissal will occur at 2:30pm.

Reminders:

• No parents are permitted to walk their child directly to the classrooms.  Entrance and exit will be by the main door on the DeMott Avenue side.

• Please send in a full change of clothing (socks, underwear, shirt and pants), clearly labeled in a gallon Ziploc bag, with your child’s name in case of an accident
• Please complete the emergency contact form and send it with your child on the first day of school.
• If your child will be given bus transportation, a bus pass will be sent home before the first day of school.  The bus pass will include information about your bus stop and bus times.  Please make sure you arrive at the bus stop at least 5 minutes early.  Only students who are four years old may ride the bus.
